What’s the plastic PET bottle recycling process?

Collection

Firstly, you should collect enough wast plastic bottles to start your plastic recycling business.

Bale breaking(optional)

If your raw materials are PET bottle bales, then you need to open them first. This facilitates the subsequent de-labeling work.

In this step, a bale breaker is required. Generally, this machine is equipped when the capacity of the PET bottle recycling plant reaches 1t/h.

De-labeling

Then, you should remove the labels from the plastic bottles. Shuliy PET bottle de-labeling machine is needed.

• De-labeling rate: different types of plastic bottles have different de-labeling rates.
  • For round PET bottles, it has a de-labeling rate of 98-99%.
  • For flattened PET bottles, it has a de-labeling rate of 90-93%.
• Flexible collocation: depending on the capacity of the entire line, the machine quantity configured varies.
  • If capacity ranges from 500-1000kg/h, one bottle label remover machine is enough.
  • If capacity is 1000-6000kg/h, two machines are needed.

PET bottle crushing

After de-labeling, the PET bottles are conveyed to the PET bottle crusher for shredding. Then plastic bottles will be processed into small pieces.

Washing separation

After shredding, the plastic bottle chips and caps are mixed together. Now, you need equipment that can separate PET bottle flakes and caps.

• Working principle: according to the density separation, the labels or caps float, and bottle flakes sink.
• PP PE content: after crushing, the content of polyolefin(PP PE) is ≤200-300mg/kg.

Hot washing

To remove any cloud and label adhesive from the plastic surface, the hot washing tank is used. Generally, if you use hot washing in the whole line, it’s called PET bottle hot washing line.

• Water temperature: 85-95℃
• Washing time: 30-45min
• Material to be added: lye
• Heating method: electromagnetic heating

Friction washing

After hot washing, to improve the cleanliness of the PET plastic flakes, you can use a friction washer machine. This machine can remove residual substances on the surface of the chips through friction.

Drying

In this step, the plastic PET chips are clean, wet and light, thus, the horizontal drying machine should be used. It removes the water and ensures the dryness of plastic flakes.

• Drying rate: 95-98%
• Work with drying pipe: control the moisture of ≤0.5%-1%
• Contact part material: 304 stainless steel

Storage and selling

Once all the above steps are completed, you can finally collect and store PET flakes for sale.
